This scanner is for seasoned scanner veterans only. While those who own it love it, it’s the only digital handheld scanner that does not come with software or frequencies. So if you have your own John Connor-ish "off the grid" frequencies list, and scanner software comes as naturally to you as leaves to a tree, then this is the scanner for you. For the beginner or moderate user—the reason this scanner is less expensive than other digital handheld scanners is the lack of software & frequencies.

Again, the reason this scanner costs less than similar models is because it does NOT include software or frequencies. We recommend the Uniden SDS100 if you're looking for an easy-to-use handheld scanner. We do not provide tech support on this scanner as it is difficult to operate and we do not recommend buying it unless you are very familiar with scanners, scanner programming, and technology in general.
