Programming Includes

› Check & install any firmware updates (OS may have updates since production).

Programming Details

With 'One Touch Programming' our technician will program your scanner for your area; all you need to do is simply power your scanner on. Choose as many Counties as you'd like and our scanner technician will create favorites lists for police, fire and EMS in that County using frequencies from a national frequency database. When you choose a County we also program the State that County is in. For example, if you choose Cook County, Illinois, we will program Illinois State police, fire & EMS in addition to Cook County police, fire & EMS. If your County is large and you want to listen to a specific City within that County, add this to the notes section. Note programming adds 2 to 3 days to shipping.

Programming Overview

Programming is the #1 concern of potential police scanner radio buyers. Each scanners' programming is unique & we added how-to's on each scanner product page showing how to program that particular scanner (see above for this model). We recommend following the decision tree graphic below & watching programming videos to determine whether you should have your scanner professionally programmed. 95% of all scanner sales include programming either at purchase or after, when users get frustrated.

Can I Program On My Own?

We created a programming decision tree as well as programming videos (above) to help you decided on whether you should include professional programming with your scanner but we HIGHLY recommend adding programming.

I'll be honest this scanner is not cutting edge tech in today's time. It is a little more complicated then newer scanners like the trx-2 and programming takes much time. Would only get if you are opposed to spending money and you are ok spending time programming. (Posted on 8/2/2016)

I have this on my computer desk. When I awake early from time to time (at least 4 times a week), I listen to it. I use the private channel setting and listen to the local International Airport and just knowing they are awake and doing business, lets me feel I'm not alone in the world. I enjoy listening to police, air, marine, fire/ambulance, and private stations. It has it all and it's great.

Amazing scannerReview by Mike

Absolutely amazing. I like all the features - except - having to program the 'private' scanning band is very time consuming. Easy to do, but takes time. I'd like to be able to just type in the frequencies.

I purchased this unit to replace an old Radio Shack scanner and this scanner has many more options than I thought. Some reviews say it's very hard to program but I didn't find the programming to be hard at all.

Excellent value if you don't need trunking. Learning how to program it can be difficult at first but most scanners are. Instructions are pretty good. I will probably buy another.

Local police have gone narrow band, so I follow. Old scanner had low volume
on narrow band, now I can hear dispatch better.
Pleased with scanner, was received as stated on order. (Posted on 9/2/2015)

I was able to program nearby sites in a very few minutes and I'm not very savvy about these things. (Posted on 9/2/2015)
Everything It's Supposed To BeReview by Andrew

It's got all the features that I need to monitor in my area (none of our agencies have gone digital). The stock antenna pulls in signals from over 30 miles away. It's kinda ugly on the table, but the prettier ones didn't have this many features. (And it looks just like the picture.) The price was right and it looks and does as advertised.

No problems with it at all. Easy to program to the frequencies you want. Can have your own personal list of frequencies scanned only and not get bogged down by ones you don't want to hear. But then also have the choice to scan anything that happens close by. A great scanner for a great price.

BC355N is a great scannerReview by Doug

I purchased this scanner because it has a "private bank" i.e.; you can program your favorite frequencies into this band, and turn off all other banks. The private bank only holds 100 frequencies. This might be an issue if you live in or near a very large city. It's not an issue for me, and probably not for most people.

Programming wasn't all that hard to figure out. Just follow the instructions in the owner's manual.

It has a weather band and has all 7 NOAA bands. Scanner comes with a telescoping antenna, and uses a standard BNC connector.

It has a frequency lock out feature. Permanent and temporary. Turbo search (180 steps per second). 7 banks total. 6 pre-programmed 1 private band. Close call i.e.; checks for strong nearby signals while monitoring other frequencies. This is a great feature when you are monitoring a band that has some activity but not a lot.

I'm not going to use it as a mobile device, but it comes with everything you would need to go mobile, including a window mount antenna. Scanner does not have internal battery backup. I guess if you loose your house power, you can plug it into your vehicle.

Use an external speaker. I've owned several scanners and all their internal speakers pretty much suck.

I've had this scanner for 2 months, and overall, I'm very satisfied. (Posted on 9/2/2015)
