I need an analog police scanner, why should I buy the BC75XLT?

The BC75XLT is the least expensive analog scanner on the market and is perfect for NASCAR and racing.

Will the BC75XLT go on sale anytime soon?
We don't know. Uniden does not disclose when they will be dropping prices and even when prices do drop, it is usually only $5 to $10. You can sign up for our emails & we'll keep you posted. Also, we have a best price guarantee.

Can I charge the batteries from the scanner when it is on?

No. You must power off the scanner to charge. We recommend an external battery charger and 2 sets of rechargeable AA batteries. Both of which can be added on this page. This way you can always have a fresh set of batteries. The batteries we sell last about 6-8 hours on single charge. Energizer/Duracell last about 5 hours.

Programming video for BC75XLT

Programming Includes

› Check & install any firmware updates (OS may have updates since production).

› Sync & update frequencies to ensure accuracy.

› Create favorites lists for as many States & Counties as ordered.

› Set clock & date.

› Program with 3rd party software.

› Use national frequency database for frequencies.

Programming Details

With 'One Touch Programming' our technician will program your scanner for your area; all you need to do is simply power your scanner on. Choose as many Counties as you'd like and our scanner technician will create favorites lists for police, fire and EMS in that County using frequencies from a national frequency database. When you choose a County we also program the State that County is in. For example, if you choose Cook County Illinois, we will program Illinois State police, fire & EMS in addition to Cook County police, fire & EMS. If your County is large and you want to listen to a specific City within that County, add this to the notes section. Note programming adds 2 to 3 days to shipping.

Programming Overview

Programming is the #1 concern of potential police scanner radio buyers. Each scanners' programming is unique & we added how-to's on each scanner product page showing how to program that particular scanner (see above for this model). We recommend following the decision tree graphic below & watching programming videos to determine whether you should have your scanner professionally programmed. 95% of all scanner sales include programming either at purchase or after, when users get frustrated.

Can I Program On My Own?

We created a programming decision tree as well as programming videos (above) to help you decided on whether you should include professional programming with your scanner but we HIGHLY recommend adding programming.

Bang for your buck!Review by Mojo

I have had a Uniden BC 220 XLT in many years since my hobbie is planespotting!
I tought it was time for an upgrade and searched for reviws on the BC 75 XLT.
Many was talking good about this scanner so i pulled the trigger and ordered one!
I can just say that this scanner is really really good. it is prowerfoul and has a vergood range even with te stock antenna. It is small ligt and the batteries (alkaline) worked for exactly 22 hours and 15 minutes! Thats almost a day! It is simpel too program when you get the hang of it and really works great!

Cons: The PC programming only works for windows not for mac.
I tried this on my windows computer at work and it didnt work at all to make the simpel programming! Thats the ONLY bad thing i have to say!

My native language is not english but i hope that you did understand what i wrote!

Good bang-for-the-buck scanner for track useReview by Hank

FIrst usage at the track as a corner worker and I'm somewhat impressed. Battery life was pretty good, with a set of AA batteries lasting about 12 hrs (1.5 days) before it needs to be changed. Controls are not intuitive, so you'll need to spend some time with the manual just to turn it on. Unfortunately the manual spends a lot of time discussing scanning scenarios, but as a track worker I know the frequency I want to monitor, and the manual doesn't give many hints as to how best to handle that situation. Picked up transmissions without issue, and was as clear as the high-end track issued radio our station captain was assigned. Belt clip worked well and kept the unit on my belt even when jogging to respond to things. One issue I've had is getting decent volume into my headset (a Racing Electronics headset), but that may very well be a function of the headset as opposed to the scanner as when I unplug the headset then the volume of the scanner through its own onboard speaker is plenty loud. I'd recommend this my fellow corner workers.

I bought this scanner for my husband for his birthday and he loves it. It is very easy to program and the channels come in loud and clear. It keeps a charge for a long time between charges. We went out and purchased rechargeable batteries which has worked out fine. I would highly recommend this product to a friend.

Sound, inexpensive, receiver.Review by Ziggy

For an easily programmable, portable, scanner in the $100 range, this was a surprisingly good unit. I found the instructions to be easily understood, and the software to program the unit by PC very simple and easy to use. I purchased these for our news reporters as a field unit and would not hesitate to purchase them again.

5been looking for over a yearReview by Richard

since the FCC have changed the frequency and codes for scanners and 2 way radios i have been looking for an updated radio. since mine are older models they will not except the codes because of different frequency. off and on i would check amazon to find a good radio that will except the the frequency and reasonable price. i finally found one and yes it was refurbished but it was at a reasonable price i can afford. i contacted the seller to find out if it will except the updated frequency and within the next business day i got an email stating yes it does. so i ordered and got it in a few days. yes it took some time to figured it out and to reprogram it but in a half hour i had the frequencies put in. so now instead of listening to my officers i now can here the dispatch as well. the only thing that i have to say negative is that for some reason the town that is my county has a different frequency which i can still pick up on my older model but not on this one. they are the only town that has its own code # but i don't think it has to do with the radio itself. i love and i love the honesty when emailing back and forth with the company i bought it from. thank you guys.

An excellent scanner overall!Review by Timmy

An excellent scanner overall. Receives nice and clear and isn't difficult to program if you don't have a PC to program it via the USB cable. Only thing is that is use's batteries somewhat fast. I currently use Duracell Ultra's and they last between 10-12 hour's per use. I'm also using Duracell 2000mah rechargables and they last about the same as regular alkalines. Beside's that it's an excellent scanner! :) (Posted on 9/2/2015)

Plug it in right out of the box, do need to buy batteries. Much easier to program using the USB cable to the computer. The frequencies are available on the web, just ask google for "Radio Frequencies" and follow the prompts. The unit is sturdy and will remain undamaged if you should drop it.

I'm a rail fan so I like to be able to hear the engine crews and dispatchers when I'm trackside. With it's pre programmed service bands, the BC75XLT is so easy to use. I found the reception to be good and when using Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries, I could listen in for hours on a full charge. The batteries can also be charged in the unit via a USB power source such as a computer or wall adapter. The unit is (Posted on 9/2/2015)
